Wool and Wood

Wool and Wood

An object in between

Wood and Wool is an object « In between », neither a normal table nor a bag. You can put objects in it but not all of them are functionally allowed. A vase full of water won’t work, your keys and gloves would. The hard wooden part was built by students of a timber-specialized highschool, the soft wool part comes from an organic farm in france and was knitted by the designer Aurélie Richard, who invented her own knitting techniques.

As designer I am a negotiator between ideas and making. I hope to live a life in between the normalities myself, in order to discover new territories

Metal furnitures generated from gears

COG was created in Saint-Etienne, France in 2014, from the encounter of Designer Amaury Poudray and Industrial entrepreneur Jean-Bernard Escoufier.

The tables 3, 4 and 5 correspond respectively to a bar table of height 110 cm, a medium table of height 75 cm, and a coffee table of 70 cm diameter. The metallic elements of the tables are produced and assembled in RBG factory in Saint-Etienne. The glass tray of the coffee table is made according to a very ancient and unique technique of glass blowing, at the St-Just-St-Rambert glassware, a historical and industrial landmark in the region.

They start with a cylinder, colour it and finish with a flat window using ancient technique. My objects aims to show all of these steps in one product. These furnitures are samples for this industry and allow them to show their know-how with a new perpective.

Geometrical experiences

“These objects were designed and made for my degree project « geometrical experiences » passed at Ecole Supérieur d’Art et Design de Saint-Etienne. During my studies I experimented around materials, structures and their limits. My goal was to draw graphical structures and compose with simple elements in order to design an alphabet of objects. I also contacted craftsmen like a glass blower in order to perform my vision. Every elements of these objects are in equilibrium to compose functional objects, like the letters are composing the words. You can discover a serie of aquariums for fighting fishes call AIR1 and AIR1, a vegetal table, trestles called TR1. I still produce these objects and sell them in small quantities. » Amaury Poudray
